First Walk for People with Stomas in Morocco: A Step Toward Awareness

On October 6, 2024, the Dar Zhor Association organized the first-ever walk dedicated to people with stomas in Morocco—a pioneering event designed to break the silence and taboos surrounding this condition.

The initiative, notably led by Fatima Krisni, activist and herself living with a stoma for seven years, shed light on the physical, psychological, and financial challenges faced by these individuals. Limited access to essential pouches and accessories—rarely reimbursed by insurance—makes daily life even more difficult.

Through this walk, Dar Zhor reaffirms its commitment to raising public awareness in Morocco about the reality of people living with stomas and to advocating for greater recognition of their essential needs.
