Who we are

Dar Zhor Association was founded in 2016 to provide supportive care for adults affected by cancer, helping them restore their physical and emotional well-being during cancer treatment and in the post-treatment period.

Dar Zhor embraces an integrative health approach, centered on the patient’s needs, addressing all dimensions of their being to help them mobilize their inner resources, increase their chances of recovery, and rebuild their lives.

The Association is committed to two main missions:

Providing supportive care to adults with cancer to improve their quality of life.
Conducting awareness and educational campaigns to inform the public about various types of cancer.

By combining direct support for patients with preventive action, the association aims to create a positive impact both for individuals and for society as a whole.

President’s Message

Dear Members, Partners, and Friends of Dar Zhor,

In this year 2024, marked by renewed challenges and shared victories, I speak to you with deep gratitude and great humility. Our commitment to the well-being of people affected by cancer has grown stronger, enriched by new initiatives and projects filled with hope.

2024: A Year of Impact and Innovation

This year, Dar Zhor has continued to reinvent the way we support patients, while remaining true to its core mission: placing the human being at the heart of care. Our actions have taken on unprecedented scope—providing psychological support, physical care, and social comfort like never before.

We introduced new activities such as Dance Therapy, Music Therapy, and the “Encounters of Hope” — powerful gatherings that fostered heartfelt and meaningful exchanges between cancer survivors and newly diagnosed patients. These moments of sharing helped break isolation, cultivate optimism, and strengthen hope for all those facing this challenge.

Measuring to Act Better: The 2024 Impact Study

The year 2024 marked a turning point in Dar Zhor’s journey with the launch of our Impact Study. Aware of the importance of grounding our integrative supportive care approach in scientific evidence, we initiated this study to rigorously evaluate the impact of our activities on the quality of life of our beneficiaries.

Thanks to a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews, this study aims to:

Measure the effectiveness of our supportive care on physical, psychological, and social well-being.
Provide scientific evidence of the role supportive care plays in improving cancer patients’ quality of life.
Strengthen the credibility of our care model and advocate for its integration into standard treatment protocols in Morocco.

This pioneering initiative reflects our ambition to transform oncology care practices, highlighting data-driven and evidence-based results. We firmly believe these findings will help change perceptions and strengthen the role of supportive care in the cancer care journey.

Breaking the Silence, Changing Perceptions

In 2024, we intensified our efforts to raise public awareness about the realities of cancer. Our awareness campaigns on breast cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer, and lung cancer reached millions across Morocco through multilingual video capsules and on-the-ground initiatives.

We chose to boldly address sensitive topics, including the intimate and family-related impacts of the disease, because we believe it’s time to break taboos and shift mindsets.

A Collective Force: Our Volunteers and Partners

None of this progress would have been possible without the unwavering dedication of our incredible team of volunteers. In 2024, they contributed 1,180 hours of support, led 623 workshops, and provided invaluable care to 450 beneficiaries. Their generosity and kindness embody the values of Dar Zhor and the strength of human solidarity.

Our institutional and private partners also played a crucial role by supporting our projects and sharing our vision of integrative cancer care.

Looking Ahead: Stronger Together

Dar Zhor’s future is full of promise. In 2025, we aim to expand our geographical reach, especially in Marrakech, where we plan to open a new branch to be closer to those in need. We will continue to innovate in holistic patient care with a human-centered and compassionate approach.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have believed in our mission: our volunteer practitioners, our partners, our donors, and our beneficiaries — who inspire us every day with their courage and resilience.
